HORSEBACK RIDING: CERRO DOROTEA SUMMIT

HORSEBACK RIDING: CERRO DOROTEA SUMMIT
Description:
Join us for a traditional Patagonian horseback riding adventure to the summit of Sierra Dorotea. Located just a stone’s throw from Puerto Natales, the transfer to our starting point takes less than 20 minutes, allowing you to spend more time on the trail and less time on the road.

The Experience:
Upon arrival, we will provide you with all necessary safety gear, including protective chaps (polainas) and helmets. Our local Baqueanos (Patagonian cowboys) will assist you with the equipment and provide a briefing on the journey ahead.

We will ride toward one of the peaks of Sierra Dorotea, named by the pioneering explorer Hermann Eberhard in honor of his daughter, Dorothea. Along the way, you will discover the unique “stunted” flora of the region, including native flowers like the Lady’s Slipper (Zapatito de la Virgen), as well as ancient forests of Lenga y coihue.

The View:
As we ascend above 500 meters (1,640 feet), a breathtaking panorama unfolds. From the summit, you will enjoy an unparalleled view of:

Almirante Montt Gulf

Señoret Channel

Last Hope Fjord (Fiordo Última Esperanza)

The majestic peaks of the Sarmiento Range, Mount Balmaceda, and Cerro Rotundo.

At the top, we’ll take a break to rest, snap photos, and enjoy the crisp Patagonian air.

Local Hospitality:
After our descent, we will be welcomed back with a warm, authentic treat: a cup of coffee served with homemade bread and traditional sopaipillas with jams, all handcrafted by our local host.
